The Marcia Forman Band began at the counter of the World Renown Big Kitchen Cafe more than thirty years ago. Joined by talented artists from around San Diego, the Marcia Forman Band puts a new twist on old standards in Jazz, Blues, Klezmer, Swing, and more. People from all walks of life enjoy dancing and singing along to these familiar tunes.
Marcia Forman has played Saxophone and Piano for almost fifty years. After two years studying music performance SUNY Fredonia, Forman moved to San Diego in 1980 and has since performed solo and in various groups around the city. These include, the San Diego City College Jazz band, the San Diego Jazz School, and many others. For the past ten years, Forman has worked as an adjunct professor for the San Diego Continuing Education Emeritus Program, and take place at the Glenner Alzheimer Center and various convalescent hospitals . Her classes focus on musical appreciation, bringing back memories and inspiring joy in her students.
